About WonHeart

Educating, Inspiring, and Transforming lives through holistic wellness and compassionate care

Our Journey

WonHeart began in 2010 doing assemblies in elementary schools with non-violent communication tools built into songs and events to inspire our community to thrive.

During the 2020 shutdown, host Joelyn Lutz began interviewing women only in their respective fields of expertise, giving women a voice when most podcasts were with men.

Today, WonHeart continues inspiring people worldwide to create the change they wish to see instead of waiting for it to appear.

Our Mission

To Educate, Inspire, and Transform YOU to become The Best You through holistic wellness and mindful living practices.

Our Vision

To share interviews from people in their respective fields to spark a change for better health & well-being. We believe change comes from within, and The Time Is NOW To Remember Who We Are!

Past Programs

WonHeart's educational and transformative programs that inspired our community from 2010-2020

Community Events Program

Community Events

WonHeart is responsible for creating the first International Women's Day event in Santa Maria and Make A Difference Day event which brought together non-profits in the area to help spark the interest of individuals to be of service.

Character Building Program

Character Building

WonHeart created several character building assemblies including "Stop Breathe Choose Differently" and "I'm Amazing You're Amazing" using original music with non-violent tools built in. By using theater at the Juvenile Hall, WonHeart found many benefits for teens to act out their feelings in a safe and caring way. It's important for them to have a voice where they can express themselves or replace an old story with something new.

Music Program

Music

Music is a big part of WonHeart. This picture was from a live show created for Santa Maria's 15th Annual Peace Week. When children show by example, our hope is adults will follow.

Health & Wellness Education

Our WonHeart TV interviews cover three main areas: Body Health (physical wellness, natural healing, movement therapy), Planet Health (environmental wellness, sustainable living), and Children's Health (holistic child development, family wellness). We feature experts in alternative healing, nutrition, mental health, and sustainable living practices.

Start with simple daily practices: reduce processed foods and sugar, eat fresh vegetables and fruits, practice breathing techniques (like the Wim Hof method), stay hydrated, get adequate sleep, spend time in nature, and incorporate mindful movement. Our wellness content provides detailed guidance on implementing these practices safely and effectively.

We recommend several effective techniques: The Wim Hof Breathing Method for daily practice, alternate nostril breathing for balance, box breathing for anxiety relief, and slow mindful breaths throughout the day. Try two quick inhales followed by a slow exhale to boost nitric oxide production, which improves blood flow and reduces blood pressure naturally.

Foundations of Everyday Wellness

Essential practices for a healthier, more balanced life

HEALTHY EATING

Why Eat Healthy?

Americans are known to have one of the poorest diets compared to other countries, with high rates of diabetes, heart conditions, and autoimmune diseases. This is a deadly combination, and WonHeart is passionate about helping our beloved human family change that. Here are a few recommendations to build a healthier life.

  1. Get rid of processed foods and return to fresh vegetables, fruits, and limited meats.
  2. Reduce sugar to less than 1 gram whenever possible. By reading labels you'll be amazed how much sugar hides in your favorite foods.
  3. Most breads are loaded with sugar and no longer made from the original grains our grandparents ate, which were easier to digest. For a healthy gut, try gluten-free or organic corn products and avoid GMO foods.
  4. WonHeart created several character building assemblies including "Stop Breathe Choose Differently" and "I'm Amazing You're Amazing" using original music with non-violent tools built-in. Interactive and engaging programs with tools for parents and teachers.

Start simple by cutting sugar, then gradually remove other foods to see how they affect you. A healthy gut is the most important thing you can do for your body, and the benefits are incredible. You'll feel lighter, gain more energy, and stop that foggy brain from running your life.

BREATHING TECHNIQUES

Why Do Breathing Exercises?

Experts say Americans face extreme stress today. Living in constant "fight or flight" mode causes shallow breathing, which fuels anxiety, depression, and a lack of the natural healing chemicals our brains need to restore balance.

WonHeart recommends a simple practice called The Wim Hof Breathing Technique. Done daily, it can expand lung capacity, refresh red and white blood cells, and activate the body's defense systems against viruses, depression, and more. Instead of relying only on medications, try this method to create lasting change.

Other practices such as alternate nostril breathing, box breathing, or slow mindful breaths can be used anytime. Try two quick breaths in with a slow release throughout the day. It can boost your bodies production of nitric oxide which helps improve blood flow & reduce blood pressure.

Taking deep breaths during the day eases stressful moments, while practicing at bedtime helps those who struggle to sleep. Over time, breathwork may also lower blood pressure, improve focus, and aid digestion by signaling the body to relax.

Breathing is a free tool we all carry, yet often overlook. With daily practice you may notice better energy, deeper rest, and more emotional balance. Small habits like mindful breathing can spark major transformation.
